THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
It’s a drille.
AN ESPADRILLE!
Oh happy feet and beating hearts, have you ever heard anything better? It is almost officially (calendrically) summer, which means espadrille season has begun. The espadrille is a near-perfect June, July and August shoe for at least a hundred reasons, but I’ll give you five:
They’re comfortable — like walk-to-work-able — even when platformed or high. These Joie tassel slide espadrilles could even work in an office.
They’re casual and somehow also dressy, which means you only need to pack one pair of shoes for your getaway weekends. These Tory Burch espadrille wedges “go” with a lot and clash well with the rest.
For at least one season, they’re indestructible. The non-suede ones can get rained on or dropped in the ocean, then bounce right back after a a little sun. I bet these Matt Bernson striped slide espadrilles know how to really live.
I rarely say this kind of thing, but they make your legs look good. The low platform on these Soludos espadrilles with embroidered rainbows really help a 5’3″ sister like me out.
And most importantly, espadrilles (Castaner striped wedges in particular) scream super loudly that SUMMER IS HERE.
Do a handstand in the pool with me if you agree.
