The New JW Anderson x Uniqlo Collab Is Here and It’s RLY GOOD

Sweet birthday baaaaaaaaaby! In addition to the weekly treat known as Friday Eve, we have another cause to collectively celebrate on this otherwise mundane morning: THE NEW JW ANDERSON X UNIQLO COLLABORATION IS LIVE. That’s right, fellow fluffernutters. Today marks the release of JW Anderson and Uniqlo’s third collaboration in the wake of their successful prior runs for Fall 2017 and Fall 2018. As you may recall from past experience, these babies sell out fast, so let’s hop to it and prime ourselves for efficiency by running through the highlights.

The Perfect Trench — Hands Down

This is the trench to end all trenches. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. Because it’s reversible! And if there’s anything I love more than a dress with pockets, it’s literally any item of clothing that can be worn inside-out. I don’t need to explain why because you are a human with a brain and you get it. I’m not even going to try to do a cost-per-wear calculation for this gem because it’s under $150 and the reversible element complicates everything and the results would conceivably be so good they would shock you. I don’t want to shock you. We still have so much to talk about before that happens. Am I making any sense? I’m not sure, but I am sure this trench is aces.

The Bucket Hat That Will Reawaken Your Love of Bucket Hats

I feel a strong connection to you. Maybe because I’m writing this story under the delirium of DayQuil administered to ward off a budding cold, or maybe because you’re a sweet birthday baby, but I just have a hunch that you, like me, are starting to get a little fatigued of the bucket hat trend and are in need of a little spice to skyrocket through your system and reawaken your tastebuds to the delight that is a tiny cap with a tiny rim perched atop your head like an upturned cereal bowl. Good news: That spice has arrived courtesy of the artist formerly known as seahorses and currently known as bucket hat trend resuscitators.

The Sock That Will Look Great With Tevas

Haley just bought a pair of plain black Tevas. She unpacked them right in front of me in the office the other day, as if to purposely trigger my long-standing affection for ugly sandals and my increasing frustration with the fact that it’s still very much winter, but maybe I’m projecting. All I know is I wanted a pair for myself immediately. And these beautiful striped socks from the JW Anderson x Uniqlo collab are egging me on. Now I have yolk in my eyes and the only way out is via a satisfyingly outfitted foot. I’ll keep you posted.

The Beach Bag That Will Save Any Lazy Outfit

Hawaiian print to the rescue! A sartorial Band-Aid for any and every time you aren’t quite sure what to wear so opt for reliable neutrals but then right as you’re about to walk out the door wish vehemently for something to jazz them up without actually having to change your pants! Because all you have to do is reach out your arm and hook it under the maximalist carry-all that always satisfies. It’s like magic, except better because it never threatens to disappear.

The Khaki Safari Shorts You’ve Always Fantasized About

Perhaps this is just me, but every summer I find myself in perpetual pursuit of the perfect khaki shorts. The ones that look like a combination of something Jane Goodall might have paired with binoculars and something a Boy Scout would wake up five minutes early to press with an iron for extra neatness points (assuming that’s a thing). The ones that have a capacious silhouette and a forgiving waistband. The ones that go with everything from a sequin shirt to a basic white tee. In any case, they finally exist, and they cost $30. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I would never lie about khaki.

The Shorts That Look Like Men’s Swim Trunks (in a Good Way)

Yes, I had to highlight two pairs of shorts from this collab because they are THAT GOOD. Last summer the life poet who moonlights as a photographer named Edith Young wrote about how men’s swim trunks make truly excellent shorts, and by the time I finished reading her treatise I was thoroughly convinced — except of one thing: that the interior mesh wasn’t cumbersome. I just knew in my heart of hearts that I, personally, would probably find it annoying. Which was fine! I had other fish to fry! Until today, when the good people at JW Anderson and Uniqlo happened to serve up shorts that resemble men’s swim trunks but don’t actually come with the requisite inner trappings. Blessed be the fruit.

The Striped Tank You’ll End Up Wearing Once a Week

Also last summer, Leandra posted an Instagram of herself wearing a loose striped tank tucked into high-waist bikini bottoms and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Lo and behold, here is a loose striped tank top in the JW Anderson x Uniqlo collection that provides the perfect fodder for recreating said Instagram, weather permitting. It costs 15 bucks and I just zoomed in on it lovingly at least 15 times and if that isn’t the second example of fate documented in fewer than three sentences then I’m an extraterrestrial.

The Blouse That Will Fulfill Your Butteriest Dreams

Although #stickofbutter is a style hack specifically intended for winter, that doesn’t mean my affection for pale yellow will cease with the first signs of spring. Nay, in fact, I imagine it will only grow stronger — or at least that’s what the heart palpitations that ensued the moment I saw this blouse seemed to indicate. I have an irrepressible urge to wear it with jeans, pearls, a tweed jacket and cowboy boots while there’s still a chill in the air, followed by gym shorts and ballet slippers as soon as temperatures rise above 65. Feel free to steal either or both ideas; I’m in a sharing mood and I like the look of your IP address.

The New and Improved Button-Down

I don’t want to be dramatic, but seeing this shirt makes me think the collars of all button-downs should be eliminated. Just for a little bit. Because look how cool it looks! And imagine how free our necks would feel! Seriously close your eyes for a second and think about it. Okay now open them and scroll down to the comment section to tell me what else you’re eyeing from this collab because I need to know. Have you already purchasing anything?? Are you high on the spice of seahorses? Let’s discuss.
