September Fashion Week always feels like the first week back at school after summer. Bet you’ve never heard that one before! But it really does, and since small talk is hard in the heat, there are three questions that everyone finds themselves asking:
1) How was your summer?
2) What shows do you have today?
3) How long are you in town for?
This last one is (obviously) only for those who come to New York for Fashion Week as they reside in elsewhere locations like London or Milan or the moon, but whatever. Semantics go with zero shoes. Once these three things are established, then you are required to say “Let’s catch up!”
Because everyone’s summer was just fine, thank you, if not too short, and because NY shows are over and mostly everyone’s gone, we talked to eight fashion pals-in-town and knocked out the last two q’s for you to click through. What else do you have to do today? Work? Screw that. It’s still summer until the snow falls.

How long are you (or how long were you) here for? Five days
The show you really came to see: My favorites were Sies Marjan and DVF. I always look forward to Rodarte, Tome, Rosie Assoulin, Beaufille and Rejina Pyo. In general, I get most excited by the newbies. Hilfiger and Wang were an experience, though. In the words of WWD, they’re commercials — not fashion shows.
Three words to describe your thought process behind packing for fashion week: Try it on (before you go)
What were you wearing when we took your picture? Attico dress (OBSESSED WITH ATTICO), Céline shoes (bought them solely for the anklets)
What made you put that outfit on? It was hella hot, and I am just obsessed with Attico. Did I say that already?
Your recently used emojis are a proper representation of your week: yes or no? I don’t know how the dog got in there but otherwise, pretty accurate!

How long are you (or were you) here for? I was in town for seven days.
The show you really came to see: I came to see Sies Marjan, but I wasn’t able to attend the show because I participated in the J.Crew presentation which was totally awesome. I’ve checked out the show images and love all of the brilliant jewel tones.
Three words to describe your thought process behind packing for fashion week: Comfort, essentials, pizzazz
What were you wearing when we took your picture? Jamaican tourist T-shirt, Rosie Assoulin trousers, Gucci sandals, Of Rare Origin earring
What made you put that outfit on? I am really into graphic T-shirts at the moment, and I am absolutely obsessed with the Rosie trousers. Best style investment of the summer! I’ve worn them a ton and they always make me so happy when I put them on.
Your recently used emojis are a proper representation of your week: yes or no? Yes, absolutely, minus a couple glasses of wine and the twinning emoji. 😉

Three words to describe your thought process behind packing for fashion week: Over-weight, organized, more-is-more
What were you wearing when we took your picture? Saint Laurent blazer, Ganni T-shirt, Re/Done skirt, Jimmy Choo shoes, bag from Capri, Céline sunglasses
What made you put that outfit on? It was packed and prepared for that day. I’m pregnant now so I don’t mess around with my outfits — it’s slightly more difficult to dress now.

What were you wearing when we took your picture? Proenza Schouler coat, dress and bag; Chanel slippers; and Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid sunglasses
What made you put that outfit on? Because I adore minimalism and also, I am in NYC. I feel each city has its own message. I get a minimalism message from NYC.

Where are you from: The Netherlands originally. I am currently based in Toronto.
How long are you (or were you) here for: A little over a week because of fashion week, but I try to be in the city every month for at least a couple of days.
The show you really came to see: I loved Creatures of Comfort, Tome and Tibi.
Three-sentence-or-less thought process behind packing for fashion week: “Oh my god, my flight is tomorrow at noon, I haven’t packed anything but shoes and bags and I don’t know what to bring.”
What were you wearing when we took your picture? A beaded skirt from Valentino, an H&M white shirt, Gucci furry slippers, a Valentino bag and Bottega Veneta sunglasses.
What made you put that outfit on? I really wanted to wear that little beaded skirt and figured it would be a great one for the Rosie Assoulin presentation. The shirt, which I wear a lot lately, is a favorite. The slippers were a rescue solution for my blistered feet, and well, sunglasses because I just woke up.
Your recently used emojis are a proper representation of your week: yes or no? Um, yes, a lot of love and praise for my favorite pieces on the runway, sunshine because it was bloody hot, and that gave me blisters. Those were painful so I asked someone for Band-Aids — she’s a rock. I didn’t cry, but I could have, because I don’t want to leave New York. Instead I laughed and ate all the candy I could get at Rosie’s presentation. I don’t know where the dog came from…

The show you really came to see: I came to present my SS17 collection. So was there for my own show. ?
Three-sentence-or-less thought process behind packing for fashion week: Hmm.. Shoes that I will most likely not wear, my best pair (or pairs) of jeans and fun accessories.
What were you wearing when we took your picture? Lisa Folawiyo blazer and lace T-shirt, Balenciaga jeans, Miu Miu mules
What made you put that outfit on? Since it was the day of my presentation, I needed to wear what I felt most comfortable and relaxed in. This outfit did the trick.
Your recently used emojis are a proper representation of your week: yes or no? Yes, they do. I loved every single minute of my time in New York and missed my kids while at it.
