Sorry if this sounds like a title an exclusive fashion magazine might publish, unwittingly manipulating you into believing that something you have long held dear (a graphic T-shirt, for example) was ever out of style when you’ve been trotting around in real time, wearing one with great aplomb, feeling awesome about yourself. Maybe instead I should ask, are graphic T-shirts having a “moment” again?
And then answer — yes! They may never have fallen out of favor (it’s a T-shirt for Pete’s Sake), but they’re sprouting in spades, like raw chia seeds on an organ. Why? Well, with the death of jeans on the horizon, my hunch is that people are craving an antidote to fancy pants, one that still makes them feel like they’re dressed casually. Because if you’re not in the fabric of America (that is, denim), and you’re not wearing leggings either (but don’t want to look so “dressed,” “put together,” however you metabolize the contradiction that is your personal style) graphic T-shirts are a great supplement.
Observe as Kira, model and friend of MR’s market assistant, Elizabeth, uses a red T-shirt to tone down the party that is a Jacquemus mini dress.

Here’s one more, where a punny tee teaches a gold-pleated skirt how to stop being so obsessed with itself.

But lest we ignore those who still love jeans, here, too, is a T-shirt and jeans, accented with a belt and what I can confidently say are the best sandals ever.

Alternative reason graphic T-shirts are the current piece de resistance: We’re so damn tired of talking that we’ve decided, as a collective, that if our shirts want to say shit for us, who are we to stop them?
