MR Writers Club Prompt: The Weirdest Thing That Gives You Pleasure

MR Writer's Prompt Weird Pleasure

Have you heard of the Man Repeller Writers Club? Every month we pose a story idea, you write about it and then send it to us ([email protected]) with the subject line “MR Writers Club.” We go through all submissions and post the winner on the first Saturday of every month. Ready? Let’s go.

I’ve had the same thought upon rising every day this month: I sure hope it’s not freezing out again! The cold has got me down and if there’s anything I’m ready for, it’s spring. Unfortunately, I still have to wait at least another two months for the seasons to change which means I have to suffer through these short days and cold nights just a little bit longer. Oh, joy.

But speaking of joy, there are small pleasures that get me through these trying, Winterfellian times. Like, also upon rising, picking the crust out of my girlfriend’s eyes. Her sleepy seeds are like a gift to me every morning and I am lucky she trusts my fingers with such a delicate area. [Insert lesbian joke here.] Or selecting the perfectly sized Tupperware, Goldilocks style, for my leftovers on the first try. Or crinkling cellophane next to my ear canal. Any ASMR, really. Gosh, just the thought of Cardi B gently whispering into a softly padded microphone gives me a braingasm.

I’ve got to go, erm, watch something on YouTube now, but before I bounce, let me share this month’s Writer’s Club prompt: I’m sure most would agree that slipping on cozy slippers after taking a hot shower feels great, but what’s the ~weirdest~ thing that brings you pleasure? I wanna know what unusual things make you smile. How’d you figure it out? When do you engage in these quirky customs? Are they a secret, or do you let your freak flag fly? If you’re down to divulge, email tales (500 words or less) about all your nonsexual kinks to write [at] manrepeller [dot] com on or before February 22nd. Can’t wait to read. Happy writing, weirdos!
