Spring has sprung like a coiled-up Slinky that Jack Frost — or some other nemesis of the winter variety — was sitting on for the last 4-5 months. Needless to say, the victory is sweet, and the corresponding outfits are even sweeter. It’s not that it’s necessarily easier to get dressed, because in many cases of transitional temperatures the quandary over whether to wear a jacket can escalate to mind-numbing proportions (choosing wrong is not only likely but inevitable at some point), but more so that a mental weight has been lifted that makes picking outfits feel…lighter. Freeing. Unencumbered by the heft of purely utilitarian pursuits.
It is for precisely this reason, I believe, that this debut of Spring 2019 Office Apropos is chock-full of so much variety. That’s why jean shorts make an appearance on the same day as a floral trench coat. Ditto for a sleeveless dress and combat boots. It just goes to show that springtime really is the sartorial equivalent of throwing spaghetti at the wall. You never know what’s gonna stick.
