Oh Boy Episode 44: Ashley Ford

In partnership with THINX.

Ashley Ford has no strategy for authenticity. She just is who she is.

In this episode of Oh Boy, the writer, editor and speaker tells host Jay Buim of her childhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a child, the adults in her life made her feel like her thoughts shouldn’t matter, but she knew that they did. When a teacher saw Ford hanging around the hallways and told her to read an article in the newspaper then write something inspired by it, Ford’s life changed.

That lit a match under Ashley Ford which propelled her to where she is in this very moment. “Avenues to your next best thing are there if you’re available to it,” she told Jay. In addition to discussing career paths, the two went deep into a conversation about mental health. Ford believes that as a creator, you have to take care of yourself before the art.
